POPS 2007 - A RECAP
The 2007-2008 Symphony Season started with a bang on Labor Day Weekend at the 16th Annual Pops by the Sea!
Almost 3,000 music lovers braved temperatures that soared over 100 degrees to enjoy a great musical program featuring fabulous dance music and a last blast of summer sun. Created and conducted by our own Central Coast Xavier Cougat look-alike, Michael Nowak, and hosted by Carl "Carmen Miranda" Dudley, this year's Pops had the crowd up on their feet, dancin' the day away and enjoying every bit of this annual family-friendly event.

| Many thanks to our expert dance instructor, Karen Garman of Pacific Dance Studio, who propelled our opening conga line and enjoyed some “Tea for Two” with Carl. Thanks to vocalist Jennifer Blomfield Booker who “Could have Danced All Night” if we let her! Dance lessons from Kelli Reynolds added to the fun and the Piccolo Chicks really lit up the stage during Stars and Stripes Forever! Congratulations to James Crook, whose generous family raised over $6,000 to win the baton for Dad, and who did a wonderful job in his first conducting gig.
And thanks to our dedicated orchestra, who braved the elements to play their hearts out so that those once-in-a-blue-moon extreme temperatures in Avila Beach wouldn't keep us from having a wonderful time.
We tip our top hats to all those who attended this great musical day at the beach and helped to raise much-needed funds for Symphony artistic and music education programs.
