Saturday, April 19, 2008 - 5 pm

In the historic Hearst Theatre
at Hearst Castle®

Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Hearst Castle’s public opening in 1958 and the 80th Anniversary of one of Marion Davies’ finest silent films, you are invited to an exclusive evening of cinema featuring director King Vidor's classic silent film comedy:
"Show People" starring Marion Davies.

Your once-in-a-lifetime evening at the incomparable Hearst Castle includes...

THE RECEPTION

Chef Maegen Loring of The Park Restaurant in San Luis Obispo will create a delicious repast for your enjoyment, complemented by premium Central Coast wines and served in the beautiful new Visitors' Center.  Jazz singer extraordinaire Inga Swearingen and friends will entertain in a 1920's style while guests mingle and dine.  Immediately following,  Castle buses will transport us to The Enchanted Hill®

THE FILM
Arriving at La Cuesta Encantada® patrons will be invited inside the Castle for the highlight of the evening: A private screening of the classic silent film comedy Show People, directed by the Central Coast’s own King Vidor and starring Marion Davies and William Haines.  The film will be shown in the very same theatre where W.R. and Marion treated guests such as Clark Cable, Carole Lombard, Charlie Chaplain, Gary Cooper and more, to some of the finest films of the time.

THE MUSIC
To top it all off, the rare screening of this classic comedy in this exclusive setting will also feature a live performance of the film score, written by Carl Davis, and featuring the San Luis Obispo Symphony under the baton of Music Director and veteran film conductor Michael Nowak.

DESSERT & COFFEE
But we're not done yet!  Following the film, guests will be escorted to the indoor Roman Pool to join the musicians for luscious desserts and gourmet coffee before boarding buses once again to return home.  (Click here to see the Roman Pool at Hearst Castle®)
